Stock market trader Alessio Rastani set the world back in their lounge chairs with perhaps the most truthful statement ever explaining why global governments are impotent and unable to provide a society fit for the majority of its inhabitants. Matt Taibbi, Rolling Stone journalist had detailed exactly the same thing in an long, but very readable article in April 2010 on Goldman Sachs (see link below). The bottom line – they just don’t care about anything else but money.
In one sentence Rastani truthfully details why governments are unwilling to make binding climate change agreements. In one sentence he lays bare the “yes we can” and “moving forward” political campaigns as relevant to the 1% who have it all. In one sentence he expresses the modus operandii of Goldman Sachs – they just don’t care about anything but money.
Matta Taibbi opens his epic with the following ;
“The world’s most powerful investment bank is a great vampire squid wrapped around the face of humanity, relentlessly jamming its blood funnel into anything that smells like money. In fact, the history of the recent financial crisis, which doubles as a history of the rapid decline and fall of the suddenly swindled dry American empire, reads like a Who’s Who of Goldman Sachs graduates.”
Is this how the 99% are to be governed ? Is this how decisions about our future are to be made ? Is this the sickening fate of the species ?
