Eusebio Guell owned a textile factory at Santa Coloma de Cervella some 20 klmswest of Barcelona. In his design for the church near the factory Gaudi relied on his instinctive use of the parabola to form the structural elements. In this gallery are the original “catenary” systems he used, hanging loose string from the ceiling and applying lead shot weights were he envisaged structural loading. The church was never completed apart from a ground floor crypt which is now used for services.
