Casa Vicens is notable for the Moorish influence in the design. Muslim “caliphs” occupied various sections of “Spain” from the 8th to the 15th centuries. Set in an area of narrow streets it is hard to appreciate the magnitude of the building, also notewothy is the use of metalwork as a decorative element. The palm leaf motiff fence is a good example of Gaudi’s love of natural forms. Completed in 1993 it is a private dwelling.
